Creating your own photo book can be a lot of fun and allow you to get as creative as possible. You can select and organize your digital photos on your computer, print them out, and bind them to create a photo book that will impress your family, friends, and/or colleagues. Here are some tips you can use in order to bind your very own photo book:
After you have selected the pictures for your book, print them out on a high-quality laser printer. You can either use regular bond paper or glossy stock. Keep in mind that glossy stock can be tricky to work with, so for ease of use, bond paper might be a better choice.
Choose a hardcover thermal binding case that’s large enough to comfortably accommodate your book. You might want to measure the thickness of your book with a ruler to determine which case will work the best. Also, make sure you turn on your thermal binding machine and give it a chance to warm up.
If you choose to use glossy paper, take a few moments to staple the edge of the book. This help ensures that the book will be securely bound. If you skip this step, there’s a good chance that the pages will fall out of your photo book at some point. Whether you used bond or glossy stock, place the document in your thermal binding case and make sure the pages are completely flush.
Place your photo book in the opening of your thermal binding machine. The device will start binding your work automatically and it should complete the job within a couple of minutes. Some machines will beep when they’re done, while others have a ready light that will be illuminated when your document is ready.
If you want to give your document a special look, remove it from the binding machine and place it in a crimper. (Make sure the spine is facing down.) The crimper will not only help secure the binding, it will indent both sides of the spines to make it look like the book was professionally bound. Let the book cool completely before you remove it from the crimper.
For those of you who don’t want to use a crimper, just transfer the photo book to your machine’s cooling rack after binding. You should also tap the book’s spine against a hard surface in order to help settle the pages. Don’t flip through the book until it’s completely cooled. Otherwise, some of the pages might fall out.
Making your own photo book can definitely be a fun project. It’s a great way to commemorate an important event such as a graduation and it’s also a good way to show off your photography and design skills. Give the following steps a try so you can create your own photo books to share with the important people in your life. Good luck and happy binding!
